Its thaipusam again in Penang. A festival for all Hindu where you can see a lot of local culture act. This is the first time I attend this celebration of Thaipusam, as you can see is for the purpose of photo shooting....woohoo...that what my DSLR is for...hehe...
Woke up 5am in the morning and I walk from my house to Dato kramat there during the first day of Thaipusam....Departed from home at around 5.35am and it took me 15-20mins of walking distance to dato kramat....The first thing that came into my mind when I arrive at Dato kramat was that, why is it so quiet as I expect it to be very crowded.....Walk around searching for anyone who can tell me what time will the celebration start and fortunately 3 mans told me that Weld Quay is the place I should go now as the Lord of Murugan will start it's journey to Waterfall from there....Rush to Weld Quay by bus and luckily the parade havent start yet but Im stuck in a human traffic jam where Im surrounded by Hindu and you know what, I nearly pass out due to the smell....hahahaha....The parade started at around 7am and everyone started to throw their coconut...Besides, there are some hindus carrying some sort of decoration on their shoulder and started to dance in front of the Lord Of Murugan.......The first day of Thaipusam is significance with all those coconut throwing along the route from Weld Quay to Waterfall...Surprisingly, you can found that Hindu is not the only race who celebrated thaipusam but quite a number of chinese participate as well....They involve themselves in the coconut throwing ceremonies, offer some fruit, flower and even carrying kavadi too....Most of them come in a group of friends or even the whole family members get involve in it...Frankly speaking, kinda touch to see everyone celebrating a festival without any racist thought.
2nd day is all about kavadi where you can see alot of piercing on their body...Its kinda hurt when you see it with your own eyes in such a close distance and some of them are just a kid....Impressive...hahaha....2nd day venue is at lorong kulit and it is so damn crowded....Various kind of kavadi's design can be seen and a lot of ritual behaviour happening rite thr....the one that caught my attention was that they are pouring themselves with a kind of holy water which is yellow in colour...haha...kinda grosh honestly....
Its a very great experience and of course a great practice on my photographing....So envy to see others with a nice lens and camera on their hand but Im sure that I can have the same skill as they did...hahaha....
